Sub: Timings for preparation of second reservation charts.

1. At present, first reservation charts are prepared 4 hours before scheduled
departure of train if not already prepared by Zonal Railways. Second reservation
charts are prepared between 30 minutes and 5 minutes before departure of train. In
case Zonal Railways do not prepare second reservation charts up to 5 minutes
before departure of train, system automatically finalises these charts.

2. Informal references have been received from field level wherein suggestion
has been received to increase this cut-off limit of 5 minutes for preparation of
second reservation charts to 10/15 minutes i.e. the system should automatically
prepare second reservation charts in case the same are not prepared 10/15 minutes
before departure of train. The rationale being that second reservation charts would
be available for download in HHT to Ticket checking staff in time before the
departure of the train.

3. Zonal Railways are requested to examine this suggestion and offer their
comments by 02.01.2025 to enable final decision being taken in the matter.
